Synopsis
|

|
Stress is the emtional and physical reaction caused by our response to events or situations that are perceived as threatening to us. It can also refer to the threatening events or situations themselves. Not all stress is bad. Low levels of stress can actually enhance performance. Higher level of stress, if prolonged, can lead to harmful effects psychologically and physically. This talk will discuss the various conditions caused by stress and the treatments as well as the cause and effects of stress.

Trainer: Dr. Chan KL Dr. Chan, Head and Senior Consultant from the Division of Psychological Wellness, Alexandra Hospital is also Visiting Consultant to the National Skin Centre. His areas of interest are in General Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry , Neuropsychiatry, Psychodermatology, Hypnosis and Medical Accupuncture. He conducts talks and education for medical students, psychiatric trainees, family physicians, nurses and the public.
Trainer: Mabel Yum (B. Soc. Sc. (Hons - University of HK), M. Soc. Sc. (Applied Psych. - NUS), M. Clin. Psych. (Chinese University of HK) Mabel Yum is a clinical psychologist. From her years of working in both Hong Kong and Singapore, she has much experience in helping children, adolescents and adults with psychological/psychiatric conditions. Mabel is also actively involved in conducting talks and workshops on stress management, positive psychology and other topics in relation to mental health.
